The mission of Burton High School is to empower a community of self-directed learners with the skills for future academic success, responsible democratic and civic participation, and meaningful contribution to local and global community by structuring an environment dedicated to the achievement of every student.

Special Programs
All students at Burton High School are broken up into one of four academies:

Academy of Health Sciences
Real-world experiences to inspire student leaders to play a vital role in the health care industry. Coursework in health sciences (medical terminology, human body, current health issues, scientific research), health careers exploration, and health science specializations (biotechnology, environmental science, forensic science).

Academy of Engineering
Emphasis on applying math/science concepts and research skills to solving real world challenges; coursework in engineering design, digital electronics, and biotech engineering.

Academy of Finance
Combination of rigorous academics and community service (the Academy has its own Tax Office that provides a free service for the community during tax season); coursework in accounting, computer applications, economics, banking and credit.

Academy of Information Technology
Emphasis on using technology to solve real-world problems in the local and global communities; coursework in video, digital media, and web design.
